Nimonic 75 is the original solid-solution nickel-chromium alloy in the Nimonic family, with good oxidation resistance to about 980 °C and useful strength at temperature. Titanium and carbon provide modest precipitation strengthening. It is a cost-effective, fabricable high-temperature alloy for furnace and engine sheet-metal parts.
Welded with matching or 600-type fillers by GTAW/GMAW; the solid-solution structure is very fabrication-friendly and resistant to sensitisation. Post-weld heat treatment is optional.
The grade is supplied to the following common specifications:
| Standard | Product Form / Scope |
|---|---|
| ASTM B168 (ref.) | Plate, sheet & strip reference |
| BS HR/NA series | Nimonic specifications |
| AMS 4583 | Wire reference |

Annealed: ≈ 700 MPa tensile, ≈ 300 MPa yield, 40 % elongation, 80–95 HRB.
75 is a solid-solution alloy (easy to fabricate, moderate strength). 80A adds more Al/Ti for γ′ precipitation hardening and much higher strength, at the cost of more difficult fabrication.
Yes, very easily – with matching or 600-type fillers by GTAW/GMAW. The solid-solution structure resists sensitisation and post-weld heat treatment is optional.
Furnace retorts, muffles and trays, turbine combustion/sheet-metal parts, aircraft exhaust and heat shields, element sheathing and high-temperature springs.
Plate/sheet/strip referenced under ASTM B168, with dedicated Nimonic specs in the BS HR/NA series and wire under AMS 4583.
